Centre of Gravity Bristol (2020)

Inside the depths of the old soapworks factory, Bristol, an exhibition of diverse and mixed media was installed. Rachel Davy's solo performance as part of this exhibition explores the nature of fragility through Covid-19 times with the use of a 2 metre rule and the smashing porcelain pots. As the artist walks each pot individually through the space the possibility of each one smashing hard on the ground becomes more inevitable. Shards of pot strewn across the floor become obstacles for the artist in her balancing act. leaving us to question our routines through Covid-19 and how they could affect others and the increasing death toll.
